Taking LL480QB diesel engine as research object, it explains the important function of surface finishing technique through spectral analysis of running-in experiment on normal standard. The changes, finishing 17 parts with frication pairs, are mainly analyzed on edge burr, surface roughness, surface hardness, surface microcosmic shape and surface layer stress. By testing the engine performances, the running-in time reduces by about 50%, the running-in fuel consumption decreases by about 30%, the fuel consumption rate reduces by 3~4g/kwh. Generally, finishing parts with frication pairs is one of the available methods to develop the engine performance, and it has huge economy and society benefit.
