The understanding of gelation and fusion of a plastisol with relationship to the physical properties developed will help the plastisol user to process the plastisol more efficiently. A dynamic shear rheometer is used with a temperature ramp to obtain gelation and fusion graphs and compared to tensile properties at various temperatures selected from the graphs. Gelation takes place over a 70 - 100°C temperature range and is influenced by the plasticizer. Fusion takes place above 160°C and is the point where maximum physical properties are developed.
