Technical Superiority is no substitute for profit and industry longevity. Shipbuilders, Naval Architects and Maritime suppliers must be mindful that invention is not innovation and that new technical developments rarely lead to immediate acceptance by the market. Often they face the daunting task of turning highly innovative designs and processes into investment by convincing conservative shipowners and operators of the merits of their designs.
