In automobile production today, plastic components in the passenger compartment of all vehicle classes are welded together. These assembled modules, which are composed of several individual parts, are the result of various operations, producing, for example, a door trim panel or an instrument panel. Not only do increasingly demanding qualitative requirements apply to the surface and the function of the components but it is also necessary for snap-in and clip points to be attached to the component. This is done in several individual operations. Operations of this kind in most cases require a relatively high amount of manual work and are thus very cost-intensive. The constant further development of engineering processes has in the meantime made it possible to combine different processes with the aim of increasing the functionality of the component and at the same time reducing component costs by cutting the number of individual operations.
