So you need to install a wet gas scrubber on your FCCU? This is the unwanted realization occurring to an increasing number of refiners. What does it mean? How will it impact FCCU operations? How will it impact profitability? What do I need to know? Who should put this information together? These questions are not new, they are but a few of the questions refiners need to both ask and answer in development of this or any other refinery project. The difference with this project is that many refiners may not have the expertise to ask and answer scrubber project questions in-house. The staff at Norton Engineering Consultants has been dealing with the entire spectrum of scrubber project questions from multiple points of view for almost thirty years. We have been an Owner’s representative, a Consultant, and a technology provider/designer. Our experience has shown that there are no generic right answers to these questions; each project has unique characteristics which need to be reflected in project development and execution. The only constants across projects are the questions themselves.
