With the use of chloramines in drinking water treatment, free ammonia exists in the distribution system. There hasn't been much research in the area of ammonia odor in water. The goal of this paper is to establish odor threshold concentrations for ammonia in water over the pH range of 6.5 to 8.5, the Secondary Maximum Contaminant Level (SMCL).
