The giant magneto-impedance (GMI) has been extensively studied in recent years because of its potential applications in weak magnetic field sensors [1]. Recently heterogeneous materials such as sandwich films, composite wires were found to exhibit better GMI response than homogeneous materials. When the thickness of the film is larger than its exchange interaction length L{sub}(ex), the easy axis may be perpendicular to the film plane [2]. For permalloy Ni{sub}80Fe{sub}20, its L{sub}(ex) is about 100nm [3]. In this work, the thickness effect on the magnetic properties and GMI effect of the multilayer film was investigated.
