The technological applications of Fe-based soft magnetic amorphous alloys have been considerably limited due to the high cooling rate for the formation of an amorphous phase. Recently, a great effort has been devoted to fabricate the Fe-based soft magnetic amorphous cores by powder metallurgical process using various consolidation techniques[1-3]. However, the consolidation of amorphous powder is not easy due to large elastic limit and lack of plasticity of amorphous alloys. In this study, FeSiB amorphous powder cores with an addition of permalloy powder were prepared by cold pressing. The effects of the permalloy powder on the high-frequency magnetic properties were reported.
