L1{sub}0 ordered FePt films with large magnetocrystalline anisotropy have attracted much attention in recent years due to their potential application for ultrahigh density recording media. The media noise is the key challenge of the application of FePt for magnetic recording. In order to reduce the noise and increase the signal to noise ratio (SNR), it needs to reduce the grain size and decrease the exchange decoupling. In this work, FePt-C (001) composite films were in-situ fabricated by sputtering. The microstructure and magnetic properties of these films were investigated.
