Chemically synthesized L1{sub}0-FePt nanoparticies have a great potential for an application to ultra high-density magnetic recording media, because they have very large coercivity and uniaxial magnetocrystalline anisotropy [1,2]. For a practical use of FePt nanoparticies, a drastic reduction of ordering temperature from fcc to L1{sub}0 has been required. Recently, we have succeeded in reducing the ordering temperature of FePt nanoparticies by a post-treatment of fcc-FePt nanoparticies with high-pressure hydrogen.
