Switching time of magnetization reversal in magnetic recording is an important factor to affect high frequency magnetic recording[1]. In perpendicular magnetic recording, the fast dynamic response of a magnetically soft underlayer in the media is an important factor as well as those of the magnetic recording layer and the magnetic writing head. The switching time strongly depends on the Gilbert's damping constant α[2]. In our previous paper, the α values of the Co-Cr-Ta and the Co-Cr-Pt thin films for the recording layer are estimated to be in a range from 0.01 to 0.05 by employing a ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) analyses[3]. In the present study, we investigated α values of soft magnetic materials employing Q-band FMR analyses.
