Magnetic nanowires are being explored in different applications as diverse as biology, data storage and magnetic sensors due to their inherent shape anisotropy and the capability of incorporating different composition segments Achieving self-assembled magnetic nanowire arrays may leads to novel applications in biology [1,2], as well as in other nanotechnologies. Reich et al. have used micro-magnets to trap magnetic nanowires, the reported trapped nanowire arrays typically have a high defect rate of 40~50% [1]. In this work, we will use specially designed nano-magnet arrays and externally magnetic field to achieve programmable defect-free self-assembled magnetic nanowire arrays.
