FORTY YEARS OF DE-FACTO MAJOR LINE OF BOILING HEAT TRANSFER RESEARCH

Past stages and further prospects of development are considered of a line of boiling heat transfer research putting in the forefront the role of the pumping effect of growing bubble (PEGB) and interphase geometry at nucleation sites (the both are absorbed by the. model of "the theatre of director" (MTD)). The paper outlines main tasks of further research including the problem of boiling heat transfer multi-factoring covering wide spectra of boiling processes. Despite of wide international publishing PEGB and MTD (describing experimental data on developed boiling HTC of all classes of liquids including liquid metals) still are left aside of consideration. Investigation of PEGB is hampered by continuous misinterpretation and underinterpretation of important experimental results. All add up affects development of boiling heat transfer theory. However, there remain some successful R&D lines such as design of enhanced surfaces, development of boiling crisis theory considering momentum transport by evaporation, application to boiling of the theory of self-organized structures, investigation of jet-flow phenomenon directly following from PEGB and MTD. The paper presents just another attempt to call colleagues for wide fair discussion of the modern state of art in the field of boiling heat transfer research.
