摘要

This report describes the RH MFB vacuum degasser located at U. S. Steel Kosice, which was installed in 2002, The production assortment of this facility includes IF, ULC and dynamo steels. These grades require various levels of decarburization and this can effectively be reached by the control of underpressure in the RH Degasser vessel, with the argon flow rate to the snorkel and the blowing of oxygen for decarburization or CO post-combustion. The level of steel splashing in the chamber is very important in the decarburization process. It is also related to the skull formation in the vessel. This report also describes individual decarburization technologies with regard to the required final carbon content.
