It is known that the first phase formed upon the chemical interaction of a solid metal and a liquid one is an intermetallic phase with the highest content of the liquid component. Gallium (M.P. = 29.9°C) and gallium-containing eutectics interact with metal powders (copper, nickel) at ~35°C to form intermetallides of this type until the complete consumption of gallium, after which the reaction stops.
