Modern steel ladles have evolved from being a "simple" liquid holding vessel to being a complex hot metal processing unit. Caused by demands for higher production capacities and increased demands for high-alloy steel grades. This evolution in the steelmaking process, have also driven the refractory development. The results have been a challenging, dynamic and continuous evolution in refractory practice, where insulating materials have gained more importance.
