One of the most important aspects of product quality in a long rolling mill that produces bar or rod in coil form is the quality of the finished coil. The features of coil quality include the orderliness of the rings within the coil, uniformity of the inner and outer diameters plus compactness of the coil package for efficient shipment and subsequent payoff in downstream user operations. The ability to form a good coil starts with the design and control of the equipment upstream of the coil reforming station.
