In Japan, almost all coking coals used for coke making are imported. Reliance on to Australia is the highest, followed by Canada, China, USA, and so on. If the coking coal supply became tight in the future, Canada should be a more stable supply source to Japan because Canadian coal exports are more dependent on the Japanese market than Australian exports, which are more diversified to markets such as Europe or other Asian countries.
