ROBUST DETAILS - THE FIRST SIX MONTHS

This paper describes the first six month of the use of Robust Details as an alternative way of satisfying the requirements of Approved Document E 2003 of the Building Regulations. The take up by the house building industry of Robust Details is examined together with the mix of Robust Details being used. The second edition of the Robust Details handbook will have just been published at the end of these six months and the new details together with some clarifications on the existing ones are considered and the significance of these changes is explored. The Robust Details Inspectorate is overviewed with an emphasis on its objectives, structure and operating standards. The results of the Inspectorates work to date is reviewed.
