Diplochory and the Evolution of Seed Dispersal

Dispersal of seeds and other plant propagules is often a complex, multi-step process. Each step is a discrete movement of a seed across a landscape. Studies of seed fates help to reveal the ecological processes influencing seed movements and seedling establishment, clarify the benefits of seed dispersal, and give insight into how different modes of seed dispersal might have evolved.
