Nanotechnologies, including nanomagnetic particles as well as nanostructured surfaces and other nanoscale materials, enable the possibility of enhanced drug delivery, drug loading and drug elution from medical devices by providing a level of control that previously has been impossible. Nanomagnetic particles that can be tuned to respond to specific frequencies, and selectively bound to drugs, have applications ranging from MRI visibility of devices and MRI contrast agents to controlled drug delivery.
