BUILDING UP A EUROPEAN EXCHANGE STRUCTURE FOR IP BLOCKS ADAPTED AND QUALIFIED FOR APPLICATION IN AEROSPACE INDUSTRY

This Paper presents the results of the joint activity of a group of European aerospace and defence industries aiming at the re-use of civilian Intellectual Properties (IPs) in System on-chip (SoC) design, through a process of IP selection, adaptation and qualification. Evidence of benefits related to the re-use of such IPs in aerospace and defence systems is given, together with indications of how IPs use can impact SoC design productivity and quality, with focus on design-to-cost performance. A catalogue collecting those IPs, qualified by the newly proposed methodology to meet specific aerospace and defence application needs and requirements, has been developed. This catalogue - at date unique in its purpose and contents - is presented here. Future perspectives for wider IPs use in aerospace and defence applications are also given.
