Application of the modified activated sludge model to WWTP

A modified dynamic model for activated sludge process performing carbonaceous removal and nitrification is proposed. Comparing to the ASM1 model, the modified model has less number of processes, components and parameters. Based on directly measurable data, model components and parameters can be identified. Simulations are made by using the EFOR soft and the ASM-CN simulation program simultaneously. The results of this study demonstrate that the modified model can provide perfect predictions and explanations to the activated sludge process. In conclusion, the modified model is a good alternative for activated sludge process prediction, control and estimation.
