Aesthetics in urban design seen from the perspective of sustainability

摘要

In the paper the working of aesthetics as part of the conditions for designer to be developed in sustainable urban design and architecture, is explained. Next the possibilities of designers to make use of the special effects provided by their design are depicted from the perspective of aesthetics as part of sustainability. These designs could again cause psychological imprints of the mind, leading to behavioural change. The idea is to make a theoretical framework of design knowledge and psychological insight and knowledge of how the brain copes with aesthetic imprints. From this framework, a very easy to use guideline was elaborated to be used in designing new urban areas with stress on sustainability and aesthetics.
