As the arrival shaft of the gas pipe which crossing the Yangtze River,before sinking the predetermined place, the deformation of the cutting edge is so distinct that the cracks on the concrete wall widely distributed. The further examination shows the tension cracks or fissure in the concrete was recorded 140 mm to 230 mm from concrete surface, and the maximum relative deformation cpme up to 130 mm. In extraordinary emergencies, the additional steel beams were inserted to stop further movement and distortion. After the close analyses the internal force and situation, a series of reinforcement measures were carry out successfully, which prevent more casualty happening.
