A study on the proper prediction of crack width in high-strength reinforced concrete beams under uniform loads is presented here. This work is based on experimental results obtained on eight reinforced concrete T-beams under equivalent uniform distributed load. The main parameters varied in the test were: concrete strength and stirrup ratio. A three-dimensional nonlinear finite element analysis is either conducted using ANSYS 5. 7 and a comparison of results from both tests and numerical analysis on all eight specimens shows very good coherence in prediction of the development of cracks in T-beams.
