摘要

This paper has examined how laboratory data, in the form of spatial averages of plate response velocity might be used for prediction of installed structure-borne power from machines. It is argued that if the installed power can be predicted, then the resultant sound pressure, in spaces removed from the machine, then can be predicted using existing propagation models. It is further suggested that a laboratory method, which gives data which can be transformed into installed power and pressure, provides an appropriate procedure for the comparison of sources, comparison with set limits and for low noise design. The paper revisited the theory of structure-borne sound transmission from an active source into a passive receiving system and highlighted the importance of the relationship between the source mobility and receiver mobility.
