Training forensic imagery analysts

In this paper, training forensic imagery analyst is studied. Safe forensic image analysis is a complex task and cannot be left to untrained eyes. The success in forensic work an imagery analyst needs a thorough understanding of: 1) The nature of Electromagnetic (EM) radiation. 2) The fundamentals of recording imagery. 3) The factors affecting imagery interpretation. The most common source for forensic imagery is optical. This region encompasses part of the near infrared spectrum and hence portrays data that we cannot normally see. However, the recording medium acts as a frequency converter to bring the picture into visual perception. The resultant pictures can be monochromatic (black and white) or colour. Photogrammetric training is a prerequisite to successful measurement and a schooling in image processing is a prerequisite to interpretability and superimposition.
