Models for Cooperation in Secondary Services of Hospitals: Outsourcing/Insourcing Strategies, Formation of Operating and Consolidated Companies

The current situation in health care - increase in pay rates, increase of value added tax, fixed budgets - further aggravates the economic pressure on hospitals. This results in the necessity of major optimization processes, which also apply to the secondary services. In this area cooperation und insourcing models occur increasingly as well as the formation of operating and consolidated companies. This presentation explains the current models and strategies, covers their advantages and disadvantages and reviews the current situation. The consolidated companies, which have emerged in force in Germany, will be given special emphasis. Another focal point will be placed on optimization targets in the area of facility management.
