A semi-quantitative analysis method was established to examine salt-tolerant rice seedlings in this study. Fourteen kinds of agronomic, physiological and biochemical properties of rice seedlings of variety Haixiang No. 1 had been measured under low salt concentration. Certain salt concentration were found to be most suitable for their vegetal growth. The rice seedlings of Haixiang Nol grown under the selected salt concentration had a prominent advantage among the tested agronomic, physiological, andbiochemical properties than those grown in adjacent concentrations of the salt gradient. Using the putative optimal salinity, a semi-quantitative analysis method was established to measure the salt tolerance of rice seedlings. The method was establishedwith seven typical and easy-to-be-examined properties selected from the tested. With this method, the seedlings of the other four rice varieties were analyzed semi-quantitatively.
