In sand casting, deformation and residual stress are serious problems. It is known that restraint force from sand mold is one of the causes of these defects. Kaneko measured contraction of castings and restraint force from green sand mold during cooling process. Furthermore, he verified the accuracy of the analysis by comparing continuously the analysis result with the experimental result He estimated mechanical properties and constructed an elasto-plastic constitutive equation of the sand mold by inverse analysis. As a result, he could get higher analysis precision in comparison with the past models. In this study, in order to validate the constitutive equation and the mechanical properties, which were obtained in the experiment of 90 mm square flange size, the experiment with 150 mm square flange size was conducted. The obtained contraction and restraint force were compared with FEM thermal stress analysis.
