Fuel economy has become a dominating criterion in design of new automobiles. Dwindling oil resources, escalating concerns over global warming, and recent dramatic fluctuations in fuel prices have posed real challenges to automobile manufacturers and consumers alike. Optimizing fuel economy requires enhancements both in hardware as well as in lubricant performance. Consequently, lubricants of improved low temperature viscosity are required.
