Mechanical face seals (MFS) are known to operate with very thin fluid films leading to surfaces asperity contacts. On the other hand, the film thickness distribution is mainly governed by thermal and mechanical deformations of the faces. An accurate prediction of the behavior of MFS can be achieved if all these phenomena are considered. This paper presents a semi - analytical analysis of MFS. The model takes account of asperity contacts, thermal effects and faces distortions.
