Parameters Affecting the Functionality of Additives in Tribological Contacts An Experimental and Molecular Dynamics Simulation Study

Functional additives in formulated oils, particularly EP/AW and friction modifiers, will compete to adsorb and function on tribological surfaces. In this work we study how the nature of the interactions between additives and base oil molecules, in combination with surface properties and operational conditions, determines tribological behaviour.
