Mechanical properties of β-Ti alloys strongly depend on the second phase precipitation during aging, such as ω phase or α phase. Since ω phase causes marked embrittlement, α phase precipitation is more commonly used to strengthen β-Ti alloys. It is essential for the strengthening of β-Ti alloys that α phase precipitates homogeneously and finely, which can be obtained by controlling the dislocation structure.
