Mass Transport Deposits(MTD)in Deepwater Sediment System Can Be Used in Delineation Deepwater Reservoir Presence

In Malaysia,three known classic deepwater sediments have been identified.The sediments are located on Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah respectively.There are(a)Triassic Semantan and Sanggol Formation in central and western part of Peninsular Malaysia,(b)Oligocene West Crocker Formation outcropping in the onshore NW Sabah and,(c)Miocene to Pliocene Fan System in offshore NW Borneo.These deepwater sediments have been studied in detail by oil and gas industry.The stratigraphic chart for these deepwater sediments are summarized in Figure 1.
