In this paper, the mixed lubrication in a piston ring-liner contact is numerically simulated by using the multi-scale homogenization technique. The film thickness ratio and the minimum film thickness ratio are introduced to show the effects of roughness. It is demonstrated that the homogenized solution can accurately approximate the deterministic solution.
