Wear Behavior of CF/PA66 Composites against Various Metal Counter Materials

The purpose of this study is to investigate the wear behavior of carbon fiber (CF) reinforced polyamide 66 (PA66) composites against various counter materials such as S45C, A5052, SUS304 and SCM435. CF/PA66 composites were melt mixed by a twin screw extruder and injection-molded. Tribological properties were measured by a ring on plate type sliding wear tester under dry condition. It was found that the wear behavior change with the type of metal counter materials which have the different mechanical properties and chemical activities. Therefore, the difference in the formation of transfer films on the counterface, the wear track and the worn surface change with the wear mechanisms of CF/PA66 composites.
