Hydraulic alumina (HA) is promising material for consolidating starting powders in green bodies with water by hydration and to convert itself to alpha-Al_2O_3 during heating, one of the main components of oxide ceramics. During this process, the emission of harmful gases is not expected. Therefore, HA can be used as a hydraulic inorganic binder for variety of ceramics. In this study, sintering of alumina-based ceramics with HA was studied.
