ESA/ESOC has many missions, with a wide variety of targets and details. Despite these differences, all mission specific simulators have common requirements to be satisfied which naturally leads to a repetition of features in the solutions. These include an easy to use interface for controlling the simulation and the provision of common core functions such as logging and scheduling of events. ESOC has developed the SIMSAT family of simulation environments that provides the core functionality of simulators that are used on numerous missions including XMM, Integral, Rosetta, Mars Express, GOCE, Cryosat, GSTB V2, Aeolus and Herschel-Planck. SIMSAT is freely available for European programmes and is mandated for use by all ESA operations simulators. SIMSAT significantly reduces the cost of each project and avoids users and developers having to learn a new system for every simulation. This paper will cover the features and usage of the latest version, SIMSAT 3.0. SIMSAT 3.0 has been designed to be platform independent, but at ESOC, SIMSAT 3.0 runs on Linux based Intel PCs. The system has recently also been validated on the 64-bit EM64T architecture.
