Application of Less Fluorine Ultra High Viscosity Mold Powder for Small Size Mold Caster

摘要

Small size mold casters may have some issues such as sticker, roping, floater and deterioration of steel quality, because of the lower heat supply. Also the fluorine in the mold powder has a lot of adverse effects such as corrosion of continuous casting facilities, corrosion of immersion nozzle, and environmental pollution. In this paper, the development of low fluorine and fluorine free mold powders which can improve not only strand quality but also stability of operation is described.
