The trend of the steelmaking industry to substitute the charcoal in the pig iron production indicates the need of thinking alternatives for this fuel in the current blast furnaces process. This article studies the CPI (Charcoal Powder Injection) with the addition of rice rind to the fine ones of charcoal used in the pig-iron production. The simulation equipment used must consider the peculiarities of the charcoal blast furnace. Considering this context, the effect of the mixture charcoal and rice rind were correlated with combustion rate and injection rate. It was concluded that even with different injection rate, the combustion rate is equivalent, what means that the pig iron production becomes more economic with a higher injection rate.
