摘要

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) formation in the combustion and gasification of biomass leads to tar formation and can necessitate expensive clean-up procedures. Roughly a third of biomass is comprised of lignin, a complex biopolymer that consists of a network of cross-linked aryl ethers. Discerning lignin decomposition and recombination mechanisms is important in determining its role in PAH formation during biomass gasification.
