摘要

Hydrogen represents a potential energy carrier and is likely to become increasingly important owing to its sustainable character and due the necessity to diversify our energy technologies. However, today, most of the hydrogen is produced from fossil fuels, which are not uniformily distributed over the world and are known to generate greenhouse gases. Cleaner and more global alternatives to hydrogen production are thus needed and examples include photocatalytic water-splitting or the use of biomass as the feedstock in place of fossil fuels.
