Hydrogen is an important commodity with wide uses in the chemical and petroleum industries. The major industrial method of production of hydrogen is by methane steam reforming, but recently the production of ethanol from biomass feedstocks has resulted in an alternative source. Reforming reactions may be enhanced by the selective removal of hydrogen in a membrane reactor.
