The pyrolysis process of a biomass particle is complex since the governing phenomena are both chemical (primary and secondary reactions) and physical (heat and mass transfer phenomena) and also depend on a wide range of factors including particle size, heating rate, and residence time [1-3], Generally, wood pyrolysis has been divided into two separate regimes, thermally thin and thermally thick, based on transient conduction within the wood particle [1,2].
