摘要

Photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting is the good way to produce hydrogen as a clean fuel using solar energy. The advantage of PEC cells over solid-state photovoltaic cells is that powder semiconductor materials can be used for PEC systems through coating using spraying, screen-printing, squeegee, and electrophoretic deposition methods. Even if the surface is a rough particle layer, the electrolyte solution automatically forms the appropriate solid-liquid interface for whole semiconductor surfaces, where photoexcited carriers are separated by band bending.
