Styrene-Butadiene-styrene(SBS)has been successfully used to modify asphalt for many years.Some disadvantages are the separation out of suspension of the SBS from the asphalt,the 170deg C temperature limit for its use as a modifier in asphalt,and its increased stiffness and tack in field applications. The use of Ground Tire Rubber(GTR)and VESTENAMER ~(R)trans-polyoctenamer (TOR),whose thermal decomposition starts at 275deg C,is soluble in asphalt up to 30%,and reduces tack;to modify the asphalt makes it more applicable for high temperature applications and thus has overcome these disadvantages.The results of Field trials and Laboratory Testing will be presented.
