Conceiving PDRs

摘要

I discuss Tielens and Hollenbach's famous 1985 paper on photodissociation regions. Their influential paper set the stage for much of the subsequent theoretical and observational study of PDRs. It is a pleasure for me to participate in this wonderful celebration. I want to focus on a famous paper that had an immediate and widespread impact on our field.
