摘要

Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) tagging mandates from big purchasers like Walmart, Albertson, Target, Best Buy, Department of Defense….., have all involved in packaging considering the impacts and opportunities. This talk introduces these mandates to the Plastic Technical Community to initiate appropriate preparation to minimize negative and maximize positive environmental and economic impacts due to RFID tagging. The approach being used presently by the corrugate industry will be presented as a proposed model to be use by the plastics industry. Randy Stigall currently serves as the Director for UPM Rafsec's North American business, responsible for Emerging Applications. He has been working with UPM Rafsec since January 2002, when he retired from Procter and Gamble where he worked 31 years in both facility engineering and package development. He has been involved with AutoID Center and subsequent EPCGlobal activities since the 90's. His involvement in RFID's impact on Recyclability comes from his membership in the RFID Experts Group for the Automatic Identification Manufacturers Association.
